Imagination to the fore in Safety and Mobility for All competition

18 June 2013  05:30

Safety and Mobility for All held its 2013 international meeting at the Cité des Sciences science museum and Disneyland Paris on June 14, 15 and 16. This year’s young prizewinners, heralding from Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey, got to present their safety and environmental initiatives at the event. From educational choreography and songs to a communication campaign asking the public authorities for a footbridge, pavement restoration and setting up bus stops outside schools, the children once again showed a great deal of imagination and conviction.

More than 13 million elementary and middle-school children from 35 countries have benefitted from the road safety and sustainable mobility awareness-raising initiative, based largely on the provision of educational resources, since it was created by Renault in 2000. “We want to extend our program further to all our subsidiaries and importers,” said Philippe Girardi, head of the program at Renault. “The Lebanon and establishments in Serbia, Russia, India and the Czech Republic have already joined us. And we’ve only just begun. We are already present in over 100 countries!” In another new development, a free app intended for elementary school children is now available on iPad with iBooks and on computers with iTunes. It is an excellent and fun way to learn about road safety all year long.
