10 October 2011  11:00

The Art and the Factory exhibition is being held in Tel Aviv from September 27, 2011 to January 10, 2012 at the Ramat Gan Museum of Israeli Art. The museum building was built in 1923 to produce… batteries.

The show takes up the entire museum and consists of 85 works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, works on paper, and 40 photographs by Robert Doisneau.

Among the exhibited artists are Jean Dubuffet (who gets an entire room), Jean Tinguely, Arman, Robert Rauschenberg, Pierre Alechinsky, Victor Vasarely and Erro, all of them fascinated by the world of industry.

The exhibition focuses on the links that Renault successfully created between contemporary art and industry.

An exhibition catalogue has been published.

Renault’s art collection is of an extremely high quality. It was constituted in a little under 20 years, from 1967 to 1985, and features more than 300 works produced by some 30 major artists, French and international.
