Round of negotiations begins with the social partners

31 October 2012  17:45

Renault will meet the social partners on the 6th of November to start a round of negotiations. After several weeks of talks and analysis with the social partners, Renault has decided to open negotiations aiming to identify and introduce the conditions and resources needed to ensure a sound and permanent foundation for manufacturing, R&D and services in France.

Renault has invited today the trade unions representing employees at company level (CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT and FO) to attend a first meeting of negotiations on 6 November 2012.

Renault often emphasises the importance of keeping its mark in France for all occupations. When the Renault 2016 – Drive the Change strategic plan was announced, at the beginning of 2011, the company's manufacturing strategy was made clear: to resize production sites and to keep French sites focused on vehicles with high added value, including the third-generation electric motor at Cléon, New Clio and ZOE at Flins, the replacement for Trafic at Sandouville, Kangoo Z.E. at Maubeuge, and the replacements for Scénic, Laguna and Espace at Douai.

However, although the world automobile market is growing outside Europe, the European market has shrunk by 20% since 2007, and this contraction appears to be structural. In these circumstances, Renault wants to find innovative solutions with the social partners that will enable a sound and permanent foundation for manufacturing, research and development, and services to be maintained in France.
The negotiations will take place at meetings where the measures will be drawn up.
