24 June 2010  05:50

On June 17, the Cléon plant in France delivered its 50 millionth gearbox: a J-type five-speed manual transmission that will be fitted to a Nissan Qashqai. Its production capacity today is 3,500 units per day and it produces both Type J (for models including Twingo, Kangoo, Modus, Mégane, as well as Qashqai, Cube and Micra) and Type P (notably for Scénic, Mégane, Laguna, Trafic, Master and Espace) transmissions. Almost 700 million components have been machined at Cléon since 1958 for the 50 million gearboxes that have been manufactured at the plant.
